Living with Rhinos Program More Info

GENERAL
Our program is based in Touws River, Cape Town; you won’t get closer to beauty than this.

Touws River is a small friendly town in the Southwestern edge of Great Karoo. It has a population of 6,800 people and is surrounded by farms, mountains and game reserves.

The program concentrates on the rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured rhinos. These rhinos are rescued from properties throughout Africa. Before they are released, the property that is taking ownership of them is required to go through vigorous anti poaching training (conducted by the Living with Rhinos anti poaching unit). Once this has been concluded and they are thoroughly trained the rhino/s will be released onto the property to live a free and safe life.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
As a volunteer at our rhino conservation program you will participate in many activities including rhino feeding, horseback fence patrols, anti-poaching training, vegetable farming and hydroponic work.

Volunteers will focus on the rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured rhinos. These rhinos are rescued from properties throughout Africa and are cared for by the volunteers until they are strong enough to fend for themselves in the wild.

Volunteers will receive one excursion a week, either a horseback safari, quad bike safari, game drive, spa visit, zip lining or Cape town visit.
