Volunteers live in comfortable chalets with 3-4 other volunteers and en suite bathrooms. Included in the accommodation is a separate kitchen, boma, and fireplace which overlooks a waterhole in the bush, where many animals come to drink.
Friday: Volunteers arrive at the facility. Upon arrival, volunteers will be welcomed and shown to their accommodation. Once settled in, volunteers are given a full orientation and will hear about the weeks activities while enjoying a traditional South African Braai. Volunteers will also depart on Fridays.

Saturday: In the morning, volunteers are transported to either the equestrian center or taken on a game drive. In the afternoon and evening, the group will enjoy getting to know each other and participate in additional planned activities.

Sunday: Volunteers will be given this day off to relax and enjoy the warm weather by the pool.

Monday – Tuesday : The day begins early with coffee and rusks and then volunteers are transported to the equestrian center or deep into the nature reserve to begin a day of learning. Volunteers will break for lunch and continue with either a game drive, bush walk and equestrian work in the afternoon.

Wednesday: In the morning, volunteers can go on an excursion. Once back, volunteers will work at the stables.

Thursday: Volunteers will travel to a local non-profit charity to lend a hand. In the afternoon, volunteer will partake on a game drive at a local Big 5 game reserve.

Arrivals & Departures
Arrival Airport: Eastgate Airport, Hoedspruit (HDS)
Arrival Time: Anytime before 12PM on Friday morning
Once your flight arrives in Hoedspruit, a team member will meet you at the airport to take you to the program.
Departure Airport: Eastgate Airport, Hoedspruit (HDS)
Departure Time: Anytime on Friday
Our team will ensure that you arrive at the airport in time for your departing flight.
Volunteers are provided with a fully stocked kitchen and will be responsible for preparing their own breakfast and dinner. A hearty lunch will be provided each day at the stables.
Each week volunteers are able to participate in a planned excursion, options include:

  • Mariepskop Mountain
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
  • Panoramic Route
  • Zip Lining
  • Reptile Center
  • Blyde River Canyon
  • Waterfall Hike & Picnic
  • Kruger National Park

Please note that excursions are at an additional cost and range from between $40US – $200US.
