Living with Rhinos and Endangered Wildlife Volunteer Program

Program Overview

Situated an hour and a half from Harare, Zimbabwe this program is focused on the protection and care of five black rhinos, two white rhino and four elephants. Experience a hands-on approach and learn the day-to-day life of working in wildlife conservation. This program makes a real difference towards conservation efforts in Zimbabwe.

Your Role

Undertake hands-on work with these amazing animals and gain experience in game park management, anti-poaching and wildlife monitoring. Volunteers also get involved with community development and education projects, teaching local communities and children about the importance of preserving wildlife and the environment

Monday

All Day
Volunteers arrive at the facility. Upon arrival volunteers will be welcomed and shown to their accommodation. Once settled in, volunteers are given a full orientation and will learn about the weeks activities.

Tuesday - Saturday

Maintenance including cleaning and feeding the multiple animals.
8:30AM - 10:00AM
Breakfast

Morning activities which include delivering hay bales and feed to animals around the conservancy.

Afternoon activities includ working with the elephants, assiting with the rhino research and baby rhino monitorin, game count and patrol.

Accommodation & Meals

Rest your head near the reserves biggest lake.

Volunteers stay in a two story thatched house in comfortable rooms with 2-5 other volunteers. There are communal bathrooms plus two outdoor showers after those hot African days. The house is also equipped with a kitchen, dining room, lounge and bar area.

Included in this program are 3 meals daily; breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you have any dietary requirements please make us aware prior to your arrival. Please note that if you wish to purchase any additional snacks there will be shop runs each week.
