Volunteer at Ol Pejeta Conservancy Kenya

Meet Sudan

The last male Northern White Rhino.

One of the three last northern white rhinos in the world; Sudan – the only male, is a lifeline for the species. At the age of 43, Sudan along with the hard working team at Ol Pejeta Conservancy continue to struggle to breed with the other two female northern white rhinos. Sudan along with the two females are on the brink of extinction and have 24/7 armed anti-poaching supervision due to the climbing poaching rates. Come visit and help with the care of Sudan; one of the most protected and important animals on the planet.

Program Description

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a “Big 5” game reserve and home to many endangered and non-endangered species. It is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees; in a sanctuary established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market. It has some of the highest predator densities in Kenya, and manages a successful livestock program. Ol Pejeta also seeks to support the people living around its borders, to ensure wildlife conservation translates to better education, healthcare and infrastructure for the next generation of wildlife guardians.

Your Role

Volunteers help preserve the last three Northern White Rhinos in the world along with many other endangered species. In addition to working with the animals, you will be given the opportunity to work and bond with children in the local communities. This program allows volunteers to work closely with many of Africa’s largest wildlife including chimpanzees, lions, rhinos, and more.
